Top Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has disclosed in detail, his motive for not inking a deal with Konvict Muzik record label managed by African-American singer Akon.
Sarkodie in a recent interview on a TV show called ‘Hanging out with KOD’ said that the deal would have affected his fan base, restricted his creativity as an artiste would also have been focused more on the status of Akon to assure him of ‘making it internationally’ rather than having a clear cut plan.
‘I had to be loyal to the movement’, he said and advised other artistes not to be carried away by the hype.
Akon was in Ghana some years ago and there have been talks about a signing with Sarkodie, but when the American singer was in the country for the second time, he cleared the air that Sarkodie was not signed to his Konvict Muzik record label.
